Jaime’s Paintings – Art Inspired By Progressive House Music
Jaime, a Fine Art graduate from Ulster University, began his career in construction before rediscovering his passion for painting during lockdown. Working primarily with oils, alongside sketching and photography, his practice is rooted in a deep connection to music and emotion. Raised in a highly creative family in Omagh, Jaime naturally blends visual art and sound, producing vibrant abstract landscapes shaped by his eclectic musical influences.
During lockdown, the electronic music scene — particularly John Digweed’s Bedrock Bunker Series — reignited his creative drive, leading to rapid online recognition for his distinctive style. Since then, Jaime has had the opportunity to work with some of the most respected labels in the progressive house scene, including Selador, The Soundgarden, and Music De Lune — collaborations that have been both creatively challenging and deeply inspiring.
Working alongside progressive house artists and DJs such as Anthony Pappa, Dave Seaman, Darren Emerson, and Nick Warren has had a profound impact on Jaime’s practice. Their experimental approach to storytelling, emphasis on musical journeys, and fearless disruption of convention have pushed him to explore new visual narratives. Through these collaborations, music becomes a catalyst for imagination, allowing Jaime to connect emotionally and translate sound into layered, Landscapes and abstract worlds.
By merging art, music, and contemporary culture, Jaime continually challenges dominant ideologies and expands the boundaries of creative expression. Inspired by the interdisciplinary ethos of progressive house DJs, he blurs genres and embraces speculative futures, transforming abstract ideas into meaningful, impactful work. Together, this shared creative space exists at the edge of culture — a place where innovation thrives, dialogue fuels imagination, and new artistic possibilities constantly emerge.
